Description

Our mission is to end gender-based violence and promote equitable relationships through collective action for social change. We do this by organizing opportunities to collectively fight for protective legislation, policies, and funding at the state and local levels; organizing and providing space for professionals across disciplines to share ideas, connect, and increase cross-systems collaboration; and offering trainings and technical assistance to improve trauma-informed, survivor-centered services and systems.

The person in this position will have a unique opportunity to work across the micro, mezzo, and macro levels by supporting CEGV in their training and technical assistance initiatives with a core focus on projects that improve systems and support behavioral health professionals and community organizations working with survivors of gender-based violence. Specific projects and tasks within this program area will depend on organizational need and the student’s interests and aspirations.

Micro

CEGV and this position do not provide micro-level direct services for survivors of gender-based violence. However, micro-level type practice in this position takes the form of assisting in the coordination and facilitation of consultation/support groups for behavioral health providers. These groups are meant to provide space in which providers can come together and support each other in navigating the challenges that come with supporting people experiencing gender-based violence. Topics discussed in these groups range from program and service-related issues such as case consultation, improving documentation, and supporting clients with high emotional needs, to ways that we can increase our own mental and emotional wellness and mitigate secondary and vicarious trauma.

Mezzo

The 2025-2026 mezzo-level initiatives the student will be able to assist with are: the coordination, facilitation, and evaluation of in-person and webinar-based trainings; creation of curriculum and resources for our new eLearning platform; creation of trauma-informed behavioral health-related content for our website, supporting the production of our new Transformative Justice and prevention podcast series, and the coordination of a one-day conference.

Macro

This position will work at the macro level by supporting CEGV in analyzing the systems-based issues impacting behavioral health services within the GBV field and assisting in the development of system-wide interventions. Some possible tasks within these initiatives will be creating and analyzing evaluation tools and measures, analyzing funding trends, supporting policy advocacy and collective action efforts related to the MIDD III initiative, and assisting in developing strategic funding requests to expand the coalition’s collective work with community-based organizations.

Required Experience

You are a great match for this position if:

You want to learn more about the intersections of gender-based violence, trauma-informed practices, and behavioral health, and participate in cross-level social work practice mitigating the challenges in this area.

You are passionate about analyzing and improving services and systems for survivors and the people working to support them.

You consider yourself a lifelong learner and enjoy creating educational content.

You hold and uphold a strong equity framework.

You are willing to engage in personal reflection and difficult conversations.

You want to put intergroup dialogue skills and principles into practice.

Required/Preferred Languages

Work at this time is being conducted in a hybrid format. Currently, we are collectively in the office on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month, with limited other in-person events. The amount of in-person events/work may increase over the next year, but accessibility is prioritized, and this position will be able to work with their field instructor to figure out needs related to schedule and location.
