Description
The UW Leadership Education in Adolescent Health Program (UW LEAH) is recruiting a Fellow in Social Work for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The goal of UW LEAH is to shape the future of adolescent health in the United States and address local and national disparities in adolescent health and healthcare through the training of the next generation of adolescent health leaders. Fellows are recruited from five key disciplines: Social Work, Medicine, Nursing, Nutrition and Psychology. Fellows receive advanced training through interdisciplinary seminars, committees, and direct clinical practice. Each Fellow is mentored by faculty to develop and complete a leadership project, which may be a research study, quality improvement process, or product or resource for use in a clinical setting. Fellows must be available every Friday from 12:30 – 2:45 to participate in LEAH activities both online and in-person.
Clinically, the Fellow practices at the Adolescent Medicine Clinic of Seattle Children’s Hospital – an outpatient, subspeciality clinic serving adolescents and their families. Adolescent Medicine sees patients for eating disorder, gynecology, reproductive and sexual health, biofeedback, prolonged concussion recovery, and gender-affirming care. The Adolescent Medicine Clinic is located in the Springbrook Professional Building across the street from the main hospital campus. The primary work location will be in the Springbrook Building.
A one-year fellowship is available for advanced practicum students in the UW MSW or combined MSW/MPH program. Additionally, PhD candidates in the Social Welfare Program who are committed to advanced training in leadership and interdisciplinary adolescent health care are encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates will have work or internship backgrounds with adolescents and post bachelor experience in health care settings. The fellowship comes with a stipend of $4,500. Due to funding requirements, stipend eligible candidates must be U.S. citizens. In the 2024-25 academic year, one Fellow will be selected following the interview process.
