Description

Micro

Involves working with individuals or families, addressing personal and interpersonal issues.
Examples:
Individual Counseling: Providing therapy to individuals dealing with mental health issues or life challenges.
Family Therapy: Working with families to improve communication, resolve conflicts, or address parenting issues.

Mezzo

Involves working with groups or communities, addressing issues that extend beyond individual concerns but are smaller in scale than societal issues.
Examples:
Support Groups: Facilitating groups for individuals facing similar challenges, such as grief support or parenting groups.
School Social Work: Addressing social and emotional issues within a school, working with students, teachers, and parents.
Community Organizing: Mobilizing community members to address local issues like housing, education, or healthcare.

Macro

Involves working with large systems, institutions, or societies to address broad social issues and policies.
Examples:
Policy Advocacy: Engaging in advocacy efforts to influence policies that impact social justice, human rights, or access to resources.
Program Development: Creating and implementing social programs to address community-wide issues, such as homelessness or substance abuse.
Research and Evaluation: Conducting research to inform social policies and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions on a larger scale.

(Makes up a smaller portion of the practicum experience in comparison to the micro and mezzo tasks)

Required Experience

A good human who is kind, compassionate, and has a love of learning, and isn't afraid to ask questions!

Required/Preferred Languages

English + other languages are a huge plus as we work with highly diverse populations.
