Description

Sound Generations is a comprehensive non-profit organization that serves older adults and people with disabilities in King County. We partner with older adults to provide accessible and inclusive services so they can age their way. The Assistance Services Department at Sound Generations provides a range of services, including an information and referral phone line, supports for caregivers, legal assistance for end-of-life issues, and interventions for adults nearing a mental and/or behavioral health crisis. Other Sound Generations services include Meals on Wheels, Community Dining, transportation services, and health and wellness programs.

Micro

- Conduct needs assessments of individuals looking for resources in King County
- Use active listening to identify client needs and resources
- Identify appropriate resources that meet clients' needs and follow up, as necessary
- Practice developing, articulating, and enforcing professional and personal boundaries

Mezzo

- Participation in program and department workgroups
- Develop relationships with Sound Generations coworkers and community partners that will support cross-programmatic and external referrals
- Make recommendations for continued program development
- Participation and leadership in an intern support group

Macro

Additional Perks or Funding

- Students are eligible to participate in workshops through Sound Generations' Elder Education Institute at no cost to them. These workshops equip service providers with the information needed to address the unique needs of our aging neighbors.

- Students are invited and encouraged to participate in Sound Generations' Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work, which includes regular Learning Sessions, workshops and trainings, and identity-based resource groups. These spaces not only help students expand their knowledge of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, but also provide a place to process and receive support from colleagues.

- We have a staff-supported MSW Support Group. This group brings together MSW interns and gives them space to discuss challenges and success experienced in their courses or internship.

Required Experience

- Experience in customer service or with clients is preferred
- Familiarity and comfort with Microsoft applications, especially Teams
- Interns must pass a background check
