Description
Challenger Elementary is located in Everett, Washington and is part of the Mukilteo School District. Our school consists of grades Kindergarten through fifth grade. Programs include Mukilteo School District's Developmental Preschool, Bridges Classroom for students with ASD, and Dual Language Kindergarten.
At Challenger Elementary School, we have developed a child-centered learning community committed to the success of every student. Micro
One-on-one student check-ins, regular counseling, and social-emotional support
Crisis intervention including suicide and self harm screening, and CPS Reporting
Creating safety plans and behavioral interventions
Case management including parent / guardian meetings, collaborating with Admin, teachers, staff and outside agencies
Mezzo
Small Social Emotional Learning (SEL) groups and/or friendship groups. Lessons and groups include: social skills, friendship skills, communication skills, feelings identification and regulation, problem solving and self esteem
Co-run Cafe Tuesdays and Cheetah Recess, 2 programs designed to support Tier 2 students
Participate in our Guidance Team, SPED Team and MDT Team meetings as needed
Attend and co-lead parent meetings for diverse subjects such as behavioral, resource support, mental health, academics and other needs.
Attend staff collaboration meetings, Solution Room behavioral meetings and professional development in building
Macro
Co-teach Social Emotional in class lessons that include RULER, Second Steps, anti Bullying and Signs of Suicide
Work closely with SEL Specialist Teacher on curriculum, collaboration of subject, and support
Help design creative student events, programs and individual supports for racial, gender, and socio economic equity to create an inclusive learning community for ALL students
Required Experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Experience and passion for working with children from diverse demographics
Ability to positively and professionally interact with students, supervisors and staff
Understanding of mental health, child development, and unique learning styles
Advocacy for race, gender, LGBTQ+ equity work
Required/Preferred Languages
Speaking a second and third language is a PLUS
