Description
HIghline Public Schools
OUR PROMISE: Every student in Highline Public Schools is known by name, strength and need and graduates prepared for the future they choose.
Highline Public Schools serves more than 17,500 students grades K-12 in the communities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac and White Center in Washington State.
DESCRIPTION-Innovation Heights Academy and Highline Virtual Academy
Innovation Heights Academy (formerly New Start High School) is an alternative high school (9-12) and Highline Virtual Academy is a hybrid online middle and high school (6-12) in the HIghline School District. Both schools are based at the Southern Heights campus.
We are a diverse, vibrant community located in north Burien. Innovation Heights Academy is a redesigned alternative program that kicked off its inaugural year in the 2023-24 school year and features project based learning, accelerated credit earning, a focus on mental health and wellness, and half day schedules. Highline Virtual Academy is the district’s online middle and high school that features both synchronous and asynchronous instruction in a hybrid setting (both remote and in-person learning opportunities). Both are Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) programs and are designed to meet individualized student needs as per WAC 392-550 while fulfilling Highline Schools’ Promise of knowing students by name, strength and need while preparing them for the future they choose.
