Description
Broadview Thomson is a North Seattle Kindergarten through 8th grade school. We are a very diverse school with over 65% of the population being students of color and over 50% of the students come from families with low socio-economic status. The diversity at Broadview is it's strength and we welcome passionate social workers a space to learn and grow their experience and practice.
Micro
School social work practicum learners will manage their own caseload of students with behavioral and mental health challenges, provide family support, learn to facilitate/lead small groups using evidence based practices such as, cognitive behavior therapy and Dialectical behavior therapy with the support of the school social worker and counselor. There is some basic case management and coordinating care for families and individuals with external agencies.
Mezzo
There will also be opportunities for mezzo level programming. This could entail coordinating the implementation pursuits of the racial equity team, programming for social emotional learning in classrooms, as well as social justice events/programming and anti-bullying campaigns.
Macro
Interns are also welcome to engage at a macro level through advocating for mental health needs of the wider district through participating in union coordinated legislative events and initiatives.
Required Experience
Experience and passion working with kiddos. Knowledge of development, trauma informed care, clinical interventions for children.
