Description

Company Overview Good Intentions Counseling Services, “gOOd people. great services. better quality of life”, is a black owned and operated community mental health agency that serves greater Seattle, Everett, and Tacoma through the strong intentions of a multicultural team providing unparalleled clinical services. We consist of 30+ clinical staff, both master and bachelor level, that possess a consolidated passion to strengthen the quality of life for individuals and families by providing relevant, highly competent, client-focused mental health and behavioral care. Since its inception in 2015, the agency has created more than 90,000 clinical contact hours in a client base that ranges from 8 to 70 in age. We specifically assist in the plight of the BIPOC (black, indigenous, and people of color) population which has encompassed the developmentally disabled, prison re-entrants, autism, juvenile delinquents, LGBQT+, veterans, and trauma affected individuals to name a few. Clinical Expertise Good Intentions’ clinical expertise and approaches are just as arrayed as the cultural makeup of its clinical staff, making us beautifully reflective of the greater Seattle community and impressively effective. All of our clinical staff are trained in trauma informed interventions with the expectation that each will become certified in this area. We are experienced in a multitude of concentrations such as: suicide prevention, parent coaching, individual/family/group therapy, teen issues, personality disorders, mood/anxiety disorders, PTSD/trauma, domestic violence, stress management, addiction/chemical dependency, LGBQT+, and developmental disabilities. Specific clinical modalities include but are not limited to specialized habilitation, solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), critical incident stress management (CISM), eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and emotionally focused therapy (EFT). With such vast clinical experience and varied life exposure among our staff, it is no wonder that Good Intentions’ reputation of excellence continues to rapidly grow as we maintain our deep commitment to effectively treating each person that utilizes our multifaceted services. Internship Approach The desire of Good Intentions Counseling Services is to provide an internship program that helps give students a wide range of exposure. We assert the high standard that each student should be equipped with a foundational understanding of clinical social work (diagnosing, treatment plan development and implementation, assessing bio-psychosocial factors, behavioral modification assessments, data tracking, etc) and possess a grasp of social marketing, clinical administration, and advocacy (entailing a micro, meso, macro perspective).
