Path with Art fosters the restoration of individuals, groups, and society from the effects of trauma through arts engagement and community-building. We utilize the power of art as a means to bring dignity, awareness, and healing to the complexities of the issues surrounding homelessness, domestic violence and recovery from trauma. We do this through 8-week classes taught by professional teaching artists, on-site workshops at social service partners, mailed art kits, community gatherings, gallery exhibitions, performing arts showcases, free tickets to cultural events and more.

Our programming offers both virtual and in-person opportunities.

Although this is primarily a mezzo-focused practicum experience, this position is also a full part of our Program Team. The student will be invited to support a creative engagement class each quarter and collaborate with teaching artists to help establish and facilitate a space of learning, community and acceptance. There are opportunities for both in-class group work and 1 on 1 support. The student will develop relationships working with a diverse array of clients and community members.

Anticipated Activities:
*Support a creative class each quarter. Work with the Teaching Artist to support and inspire individual and community growth, learning and participation.
*As needed, provided conflict resolution and individualized support in partnership with client social service partners.

Path with Art has relationships with more than 70 social service partners that refer clients to Path with Art to aid in their healing and growth. A primary intention of this internship is to strategically improve and deepen our relationships with our social service partner referral process. The intern will acquire and organize data from our roster of referring social service partners and assess the populations they serve, the types of programming they offer and their current depth of partnership with Path with Art. From there, working with the Program Team, identify several organizations to strategically engage with an eye towards increasing quality, diverse referrals into our programming. Develop a plan of action for deeper community and staff engagement with these identified social service organizations.

Anticipated Activities:
*Participate in stakeholder-centered Program Advisory Board, composed of program participants, volunteers, staff, social service and community partner.
*Acquire and analyze data from our participants and social service partners; analyze referral trends from these SSPs
*Refine a case-manager-focused recruitment presentation, creating an engagement plan for social service partner “champions”
*Develop and maintain relationships with identified social service partners, draft a sustainability and learnings plan to for this work to continue and improve post-internship
*Participate as a full member of our Program Team. Attend weekly meetings and strategy sessions. Support the client registration process.

Practicum students review and participate in development of community and organizational policies and procedures. They will learn about and advocate for local and statewide policies that support intersections between social services, accessibility and the arts.

No required experience, but we give preference to individuals with an interest or background in: intersections between arts and social services; working with adult populations; creative expression.

Second language skills a plus.
