Description

The UW Medicine Long COVID Clinic is a multidisciplinary clinic that specializes in providing care for patients who experience symptoms after a COVID-19 infection (Long COVID). The Long COVID Clinic houses our COVID Aftercare Recovery and Support (CAReS) program which seeks to increase care access for historically underserved populations that are disproportionately affected by Long COVID. Specific populations we are seeking to engage include: rural, AI/AN, latinx, SE Asian, and LGBTQIA individuals.

Our care coordination team is seeking a social work student who is interested in learning more about Long COVID care and working directly with patients, providing them resources and supporting them in navigating the health care system.

This practicum is a unique opportunity to provide a supporting role to a program that combines direct patient support, community outreach, and knowledge dissemination. As a social work intern, you will have the chance to work with patients, CAReS staff members, physicians, rehabilitation psychologists, and other clinician-scientists.

Depending on the student’s learning goals, there are many opportunities within our group to explore including Long COVID treatment research, program development, navigating federal funding, and multi-site collaboration. Below are just a few examples of opportunities we have available.
