Mission: CCER drives systems change in education by centering student experiences, propelling robust research, and partnering with communities to transform Washington state schools
Background: CCER was originally founded in 2010 as the backbone for a King County education initiative known as the Road Map Project, and we have since become Washington state’s leading expert in educational data and research. We drive systems change by centering student experiences, engaging families and communities, and bringing together a wide range of partners to transform education in Washington.

This placement is designed for students interested in engaging in research, evaluation and policy practice. Position may include a combination of the following activities.
Policy Practice
1) Analyze, evaluate, and formulate policy practice; e.g. organizational, community, local, state, and federal, that responds to emerging local, regional, and state trends within education systems.
2) Analyze specific policies and policy practice; e.g. organizational, community, local, state, and federal, and their impact on diverse and oppressed populations.
3) Draft legislative brief/summary
4) Collaborate with policy partners, coalition building and work-group facilitation
Research & Evaluation
This opportunity can provide students with experience in qualitative and quantitative research, data analysis, and scholarly writing and presentations.
1) Research and evaluation of community-based education initiatives

Required Experience
1) 1 year of experience (professional or volunteer) working with community based organizations
2) Experience working with people of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives
3) Commitment to anti-racism work with an understanding of the challenges and barriers faced by communities concerning (but not limited to) race, ethnicity, age, class, ability, immigration status, gender, etc.—and their intersections
4) Strong written and verbal communication
5) Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and online meeting tools, such as Zoom and Teams
6) Comfortability with facilitating groups
