Description

Touchstone Health is a community mental health clinic and private practice based in Blaine and Ferndale Washington. We are working primarily through Telehealth and do have limited availability for in person work at our office in Blaine WA. Most of our counselors are working remotely, we have supported students from Washington, California, Canada, Saudi Arabia and more and we welcome out of state students to apply for our program!

We are open 7 days a week from 7am-7pm and offer flexible scheduling determined by each individual counselor.

We offer free weekly individual with one of our 5 licensed supervisors and highly recommended weekly group supervision. We are an eclectic clinic and support our counselors to develop their own unique counseling style. If impressed with your work we do offer some graduating students  Associate positions (LMHCA/LMFTA/LICSWA/etc) to continue counseling along with the free supervision to gain Washington state licensure.

We work with clients of all ages 4 and older in individual, family and couple therapy from communities in Northern Washington and the greater Washington State.

Touchstone is one of the only community mental health clinics in northern Washington serving the rural communities near the border. We accept Medicaid, medicare and many other insurance options as well as sliding scale options for payment to support individuals dealing with a myriad of different struggles impacting their mental health. Many clients we work with are impacted by life transitions, grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, suicidality, substance use disorders, homelessness and poverty.

Expectations for Student Interns:

  • Work with clients in individual/family/couple therapy (as interest and degree requirements require).
  • Complete all case notes within 24 hours after the appointment.
  • Meet with clients regularly regarding their mental health goals.
  • Schedule and manage all future appointments with clients placed on caseload.
  • Communicate with site director regarding any hours needed for graduation.
  • Meet and coordinate weekly required meetings with site supervisor.
  • Share about cases, topics/presentations from class, or struggles/tips you have learned about regarding counseling in our group supervision.
  • Collaborate with supervisor weekly regarding the diagnosis and treatment planning of all clients on interns caseload.
  • When required to meet clients mental health goals, collaborate with clients health team outside of Touchstone (which may include school counselors, primary caregivers, other relatives of the client, Guardian ad Litems, Parole Officers, CPS, Social Workers or more) within the guidelines of Touhstone's HIPAA policy and related procedures, outlined during initial onboarding training.
  • Follow all Touchstone’s policies of clinician conduct introduced in onboarding training and after.
  • Communicate any time off needed with clients, supervisor and support staff.
