Description

Holistic Child and Family is a small group therapy practice that specializes in working with Queer, Trans, Neurodivergent, and otherwise marginalized populations. We believe people should be able access quality mental health care, regardless of ability to pay, and offer a lot of low cost and pro-bono services to our clients.

Our hope is that our community is accessible and supportive to everyone’s varied needs, and we bring a lot of flexibility to our staff, interns, and clients.

In an internship with HCF, your main goal will be your learning, and we will be here to help provide the tools and support you need to meet your learning goals.

Micro

Clinical interns can expect to engage in learning on the micro level through client sessions, completing notes, running intakes, sitting in/asking questions during group consultations, and more.

A large part of this internship is developing your theoretical orientation, so you will also have access to the team to ask questions, our library, and more.

Mezzo

On a mezzo level, interns will be able to engage with things/tasks like developing resources for clients, attending and participating in IEP meetings, advocating for their clients within larger systems and across agencies, and more.
We also hold external consult group each month with a neurodiversity focus. Interns have the opportunity to drop in, present a didactic, or seek consultation.

Macro

At the macro level, interns can participate in activities that hold their interest - such as tracking laws that impact our populations, spending time contacting representatives, etc.
They can also expect the political climate and world events to be taken into account during group supervisions within the practice.
