Description

Helping Hands Project Organization is a local nonprofit, licensed, certified, and accredited Community Behavioral Health Facility. We are dedicated to improving the lives of underserved communities in the Puget Sound area. Part of our broader mission is to provide access to healthcare, behavioral health services, housing, and food security.

At Helping Hands Project Organization, our mission is to empower and elevate the lives of the most underserved individuals, particularly communities of color, by providing access to resources and programs that ensure an equitable opportunity for success. Established in 2019 and based in Everett, WA, our organization is dedicated to improving the well-being and resilience of marginalized populations across Washington state and beyond.

We are deeply committed to addressing the unique challenges faced by these communities, with a strong focus on providing essential services such as housing, behavioral health care, food security, and emergency assistance. Our work supports a diverse range of individuals, including people with disabilities, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, incarcerated or formerly incarcerated individuals, immigrants, refugees, and survivors of family violence.

Micro

Case Manager practicum position is a great opportunity to join a dynamic and dedicated team working with clients living in Adult Family Homes. This position offers flexibility to take various case management, program evaluation/development, and community partnership work. - Redirection
- Preventing/minimizing adverse reactions to triggers
- Implementing de-escalation techniques to mitigate crisis
- Providing coordinated skill-building to clients and formal/informal providers on how to manage and support the client-provider
relationship and with community living

Mezzo

This practicum will include interactions with many community members, including DSHS social workers, Adult Family Home providers, and other supports as identified by the program people we work with. Cross-program and community collaboration is a large part of what we do to ensure that clients have appropriate and responsive resources. Opportunities to create custom projects and roles that align with the intern's career interests as well as agency's needs and values

Macro

Many opportunities exist to learn about and be exposed to specific behavioral management strategies through formal and/or informal training and consultative support services for DSHS ALTSA clients who are relocating or being diverted from state or local psychiatric hospitals or who are otherwise at risk for loss of community living options due to challenging behaviors.
Opportunities also exist to learn about the legislative process and specific engagement and advocacy during the legislative session; reviewing policies and procedures, discussing program development and policy implications.
