Description
James Baldwin Elementary School is a warm welcoming and diverse K-5 school that opened in 2023. Named after the influential writer and activist James Baldwin, our school combines modern facilities with a strong commitment to student success and community engagement. As one of Seattle's most diverse schools, we proudly serve a multicultural community where 20 different languages are spoken.

Micro
Provide one-on-one counseling and crisis intervention to support students' social-emotional needs
Help students develop coping skills, social skills, and emotional regulation strategies
Support students with behavioral challenges through targeted interventions
Collaborate with families to address student needs and connect them with resources
Mezzo
Facilitate social skills and support groups for students
Collaborate with teachers and staff to implement classroom-based interventions
Support positive school climate initiatives
Engage in family outreach and parent education programs
Macro
Connect families with community resources and services
Assist in developing and implementing school policies that promote equity
Contribute to attendance improvement initiatives
Help coordinate partnerships with community organizations
Engage in program evaluation and data collection to improve service delivery
Required Experience
Previous experience working with children and families (volunteer work, employment, or internship)
Basic understanding of child development and school-based mental health
Cultural competency and ability to work with diverse populations
Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
Successful completion of background check and fingerprinting (required for school placement)
Ability to commit to full academic year placement
Preferred Experience:
Previous experience in educational settings
Knowledge of special education
Experience facilitating groups
Familiarity with local community resources
