Micro
The social work student will be part of a multi-disciplinary team working with and on behalf of patients and families in the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Clinic (M) and Huntington’s Disease Clinic (T) patient population at UWMC Montlake while learning generalist master’s level skills.
The Adult Cystic Fibrosis Clinic and Program at UW Medical Center - Montlake is the only adult CF Program in the Puget Sound region and offers the region’s only lung transplant program. The student will work with physicians, nurses, medical assistants and PSS staff to coordinate patient care within the clinic.

The Huntington’s Disease Clinic is part of the UWMC Adult Genetics Clinic. The student will work primarily with patients and families affected by HD, across the spectrum from pre-diagnosis through end of life. The student will work with physicians, nurse, Medical Assistants, Patient Navigator to coordinate patient care.
HDSA Center of Excellence at UW Medical Center
Student Roles and Responsibilities Include: Conduct psychosocial assessment, offer psycho-education and treatment planning as well as identification of community resources. Conduct chart reviews, and participation is case consultation meetings with the multi-disciplinary outpatient treatment team of physicians and residents, RN’s, MA’s and other staffs. Provide emotional support to patients and families. Work with community partners to expand access and support of CF and HD patients. Willingness to gain knowledge about CF/HD social and emotional impacts and best practice methods of addressing the needs of these populations.
Must also thrive in a multidisciplinary environment and collaborate well with others.

Required Experience
Excellent written communication skills required. The student should have 2 years of professional human service experience, ideally in a behavioral health or medical setting.
