Scheduling Requirements:   

• Two half-day orientations in July 2025, exact dates TBD.  

• Mandatory didactics and group supervision on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month from September 2025 through May 2026.

• Clinic days will be determined with individual supervisors based on clinic needs and space limitations along with the trainee’s availability.  

• Serving as a fully integrated trainee Behavioral Health Provider (BHP) working alongside primary care physicians and their team to provide consultation and brief interventions to patients presenting with any range of behaviorally influenced issues, from preventive (e.g., lifestyle modification), to acute (e.g., sudden illness, suicidal ideation), or chronic behavioral needs (e.g., anxiety, depression, chronic pain, diabetes).
• Trainees placed in a Family Medicine Residency clinic will gain experience working in an integrated family medicine setting that serves as a teaching clinic for residents.
• Providing evidence-informed interventions in 30-minute visits with the focus of functional improvement, drawing from modalities including CBT, ACT, SFBT, and MI.
• Facilitating wellness workshops/classes (e.g., stress management, CBT-I, etc.)
• Providing preventive education interventions (“anticipatory guidance”) during well-child checks for clinics that include pediatric populations.
• Helping the licensed Behavioral Health Provider with various clinical tasks, such as:
• Connecting patients with appropriate community referrals
• Obtaining collateral information to better serve patients’ needs (e.g., from families or schools during evaluation for ADHD, care coordination with community MH providers, etc.)
• Collaborating with psychiatry partners for care coordination and/or joining bi-monthly case consultation meetings
• Other opportunities of interest as they arise (e.g., MI skills groups for medical residents, research participation, etc.).

• Supporting group facilitation [e.g., CBTi, executive functioning, etc.]
• Attendance at Swedish sponsored trainings/CME’s, MI skills groups for medical fellows, research participation, etc.
• Partner with the Swedish LGBTQI+ Program and gain experience working on a team that supports LGBTQI+ care across the Swedish Medical Group and Swedish Medical Center, which may include:
- Connecting LGBTQI+ patients with appropriate community referrals
- Providing short-term LGBTQI+-informed and gender-affirming behavior health

Twice monthly group supervision combined with twice monthly didactics with speakers including the founder of our program. Additionally, weekly individual supervision with direct supervisor.

PCBH students are expected to provide a general equivalent of 2 full clinic days per week for a minimum of 10 months, equating to a minimum of 680 total hours (there may be an option to practice 3 days a week, depending on site). This includes individual supervision, group supervision, and didactics hours. We will likely have two options for start dates, July or September, with clinic hours during a M-F work week typically between 8 am and 5 pm.

Onboarding costs: As with all large hospital systems, onboarding into the Swedish healthcare system involves some one-time costs to the trainee such as enrollment in the Clinical Pathways Northwest (CPNW) platform and health requirements. The onboarding requirements are determined by the Swedish Clinical Education department and apply to all health professions. We are working on opportunities for mitigating these costs.
