Description
King County JumpStart is a clean energy workforce development program addressing the demand for a diverse and skilled workforce in the clean technology and energy sector. This innovative sectoral partnership involves government agencies, pre-apprenticeships and job readiness training providers, and employers. JumpStart connects young adults ages 18-24 to pre-apprenticeship and job training, industry-recognized credentials, paid work-based learning, and pathways to living-wage employment or full-time apprenticeships.
JumpStart participants are recruited, enroll in job readiness training programs, attend clean energy workshops, and work 240-hours of paid work-based learning with partner employers in local solar, HVAC, electrical, and related clean energy or construction trades. Upon successful program completion, participants are supported to be hired through full-time employment offers at their host site, apply for apprenticeships, and participate in organized hiring events or application clinics for open King County positions.
