Description

The Oncology Social Work Team at Valley Medical Center in Renton, WA is seeking an MSW Intern who is interested in providing emotional and resource support to adult patients who have a cancer diagnosis, as well as their families, in an outpatient healthcare setting. This is an advanced placement MSW practicum and dedicated Carol LaMare site. This means that we initially will only consider Carol LaMare conditionally approved students.

Oncology Social Workers collaborate with the multidisciplinary team across cancer services including the infusion center, medical oncology, palliative and supportive care, and radiation oncology, as well as various inpatient colleagues.

From the VMC Website: Caring for our community like family is our priority at Valley and we are proud to provide outstanding clinical cancer care and leading-edge treatment options for our neighbors – close to home. We place an emphasis on prevention, early detection, improved outcomes, reduced side effects and less invasive treatment options. We deliver innovative care and therapies with patient-focused support and guidance. Our goal is to help our patients to make the most of every single day. Physicians specializing in medical oncology, radiation oncology, neuro oncology and surgical oncology as well as specially trained nurses and technicians, social workers, physical therapists and nutritionists provide support throughout each stage of our patients’ cancer care.

Micro
