Position Summary
NAMI Washington has a field placement focusing on Nonprofit Organizational Development & General Management. Students in this position will learn the policies and laws that govern nonprofits both nationally and within Washington, as well as aspects of daily operations to maintain a strong nonprofit.They will have opportunities to learn event coordination, fundraising, sponsor relations, grant management, marketing, communications and more.
Areas of Focus:
Learn Standards of Practice (SOP) for Washington State Nonprofit Organizations
Learn and support weekly and monthly organizational financial processing—use of Quickbooks, GL codes, classification of programs vs admin and fundraising categories
Assist NAMI Washington’s Executive Director (ED) and Director of Philanthropy with fund development activities, including grant research, editing, and writing; event marketing and planning; and running committee meetings.
Work with ED on Board of Directors meetings and related issues.
Attend relevant coalition and community meetings as assigned and when it fits into the field placement schedule
Help coordinate NAMIWalks Washington with event logistics, marketing, sponsor engagement and affiliate communications
Build partnerships with community organizations and businesses to support event sponsorship and attendance
Provide technical assistance and support in philanthropic opportunities
Maintain donor database and sponsor tracker
Opportunity to attend NAMI Washington Annual State Conference—as an attendee and a member of the “staff”
Attend NAMI Washington weekly staff & EDI meetings if they fit into schedule
