Description

The Green River College Center for Transformational Wellness and Benefits Hub (CTW/BH) is a one stop shop for student support services. Focus areas of the center include; Violence Prevention and Support, Pregnant and Parenting Student Support, Passport to Careers, and Benefits Hub.

  • The Violence Prevention and Support program implements campus-wide strategies to prevent interpersonal violence and provide support to all members of the campus community that have experienced Interpersonal Violence (stalking, sexual assault, and/or relationship violence).
  • Our Pregnant and Parenting Support is here to offer holistic and wrap-around support to ensure student parents have everything they need to be successful.
  • Passport to Careers helps current and former foster youth and unaccompanied homeless enroll, persist, and complete a postsecondary education.
  • The Benefits Hub offers one-stop financial assistance and enrollment in benefits, including: FAFSA/WASFA assistance, utility assistance, homelessness prevention and housing navigation, financial coaching, food resources, help paying for financial emergencies, enrollment in public benefits, and connections to additional resources.

Green River College is an open-access, public college where students from all over the world come together to learn, grow and enrich their lives. Green River's main campus stretches over 180 acres of beautifully forested land. Branch campuses, located in downtown Auburn, Kent and Enumclaw, bring the college's unique educational experiences to local communities. Students can choose from a wide variety of transfer degrees, bachelor of applied science degrees, career and technical education, pre-college and basic skills courses and continuing and community education classes.

The CTW/BH is a part of the Student Affairs division that is committed to providing students and the community with access and seamless support to comprehensive programs in a nurturing environment, empowering students to take initiative and responsibility for educational, professional, and personal development. The motto of the Student Affairs division is "Think Student, Then Decide".

Micro

Passport to Careers position will provide case management for students in the Passport to Careers Program who are either former foster youth or unaccompanied homeless youth. Any student placed in the Center for Transformational Wellness and Benefits Hub will be a part of the team that provides coverage of a drop-in space for students to access support. Practicum students will engage with any member of the college community who drops into the space, will provide information and referrals for college and community resources, engage in an intake procedure for students who would like that level of support, and provide emotional support.

Mezzo

Passport to Careers position will work with different departments across campus to provide wrap around support for Passport students including Financial Aid, Student Housing, WorkForce Education, TRiO, etc. They will develop and implement programming to increase awareness of resources, and also provide outreach representing the center at campus events, as well as in the larger community.

Macro

Based on the student's level of previous experience, activities may include coordinating with college departments and community resources to develop and maintain referral processes, lead committee meetings, participate in writing/reporting for the grants that fund the center, as well as attending virtual or in-person conferences and lobby days.

Required Experience

There is not any required experience for a placement. The CTW/BH would be excited to have students apply who have lived experience as a community/technical college student and/or personal experience navigating social service systems.
