Description
Highline Public Schools is a diverse and vibrant school district covering the communities of Burien, Seatac, Des Moines, White Center, and Normandy Park. We serve over 17,000 students in K-12 across 34 schools and programs. We exist to support our Highline Promise, which is every student in Highline Public Schools is known by name, strength and need and graduates prepared for the future they choose.
The Mental Health and Social Services Department is comprised of school social workers, SBIRT Coordinators, and McKinney-Vento/504 liaisons. The MSW direct-service internship (3 students) is designed to pair with school social workers who support students and families in multiple schools, and will have opportunities to shadow/interview others in the MH/SS department and participate in department meetings and is a good placement for clinical/CCIP students. The MSW administrative internship (1 student) is an opportunity to be placed at an administrative level with the director of the MH/SS department completing projects, evaluating processes, understanding the district-level functions of a school district, and is a good placement for admin & policy practice/CCIP students.
