As the Black Farmers Collective, we are on a unique mission to establish a Black-led food system. This involves creating a cooperative network of food system actors, acquiring and stewarding land, providing food system education, and fostering spaces for Black liberation, healing, and joy.

We envision Black liberation through food sovereignty in spaces built on cooperation and interconnectedness with the environment and the community, where our knowledge and creativity are boundless.

We have two farms in the Western Washington area.

Our first farm is YesFarm, a 1.2-acre urban farm in the heart of Yesler Terrace. Here, we engage in weekly community volunteer days, collaborate with various community groups and organizations, give tours, host workshops and events, and steward the land alongside the community.

Our second farm is Small Axe, a 4.2-acre farm in Woodinville where we grow various produce. We sell our produce at the Delridge Farmers Market and donate it to local churches, community organizations, and partner organizations. We also have a young yet expanding incubator program where community members can sign up to lease a piece ofland and grow or sell produce to their communities.

At Black Farmers Collective, you’ll be able to engage in community events, workshops, our incubator farmers, community farming volunteer days, and general farming days with the BFC staff. We are interested in your passions and bringing your creative ideas to our team and the broader community we serve. You’ll have the opportunity, and we encourage students to build their projects, support ongoing projects, and or engage with the everyday activities within our collective.
