Additional Perks or Funding

Barney! Barney is our Camp Sparkle mascot. He is a 14yo Shih Tzu who is a pet therapy dog who assists our kids. We also offer art therapy and will work with you to develop your interest and practice with our children's groups.

Cancer Pathways psycho oncology care is delivered virtually and in-person. Assessments/Intakes, some groups and emotional support sessions can be done virtually in the evening if that works for you and our members.

Our staff at Cancer Pathways is amazing and we all support each other. I am a graduate of UW MSW program and I started my practicum at Cancer Pathways years ago!

Required Experience

Have a strong work ethic and desire to make a difference for those living with cancer. Desire to work with children and families experiencing cancer is a must.  You will consider health equity and diversity specific to cancer and practice inclusion with our programing and delivery of services.

Prefer Spring or Summer start. You don't want to miss camp.

In person time that is mandatory at Cancer Pathways is on the 2nd Sat. per month and at least some of Camp Sparkle in the Summer.

One position, possibly both, will be part of the amazing Camp Sparkle. Camp Sparkle is our annual in-person Summer 5 weekday camp (M-F) for children and teens ages 5-16 affected by cancer.  You will participate in Camp Sparkle and work with our Social Work Director to develop your strengths and areas of interest while supporting our campers.
Camp Sparkle Dates: M-F 9:30am-3pm
June 24th-28th Spokane (not a mandatory location but you are welcome to join)
July 8th-12th Bellevue/Newcastle
July 15th-19th Woodinville
July 29th-Aug. 2nd Seattle
Aug. 5th-9th Tacoma
There will also be volunteer and counselor training to attend as well.

Experience with a loved one who has cancer or who has passed away from cancer is helpful when learning about oncology social work but not mandatory.

Required/Preferred Languages

Not required but Spanish language preferred. Would you like to lead a Spanish speaking support group?

How to Apply

Sent a cover letter and resume to Social Work Director, Michelle Massey at michelle@cancerpathways.org. Please indicate that you are available on the 2nd Saturday per month and commit to at least some of the 5 weeks of Camp Sparkle.
