Description
Providence Swedish welcomes your application for a robust and enriching training experience in integrated primary care. Consistent with our organization’s mission to improve the health and well-being of each person we serve, our long-standing training program emphasizes the skills acquisition to promote meaningful change across the diverse patient population served combined with a dedication to reducing barriers to access. If you are passionate about health equity and whole person health, please apply for one of our pre-internship and practicum positions (up to 12 this year). Possible clinic placements include Bellevue Primary Care, Cherry Hill Family Medicine Residency, First Hill Primary Care, Renton Primary Care, and West Seattle Primary Care. Other clinics could be added as staffing allows.
Description of PCBH Trainee Role
Trainees will receive strong training in the Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) model, which is the lead evidenced-based model for promoting population health. There is significant front-loaded training, including didactics and cross-shadowing, to become accustomed with this team-based approach to managing biopsychosocial issues that present in primary care, with the over-arching goal of improving primary care in general.
Expectations
PCBH and Family Medicine Residency trainees are expected to provide the equivalent of 2 full clinic days per week, which includes individual supervision, group supervision, and didactics, for a minimum equivalent of 10 months (up to 3 days per week can be accommodated for certain sites, if desired). We anticipate two options for start dates, July or September, with clinic hours during a M-F work week typically between 8 am and 5 pm.
Scheduling Requirements
➢ Two half-day orientations in July 2024, from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm, exact dates TBD.
➢ Mandatory Didactics and Group Supervision on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month from September 2024 through May 2025, from 8:00 am – 11:00 am.
➢ Clinic days will be determined with individual supervisors based on clinic needs, space availability, and the trainee’s availability.
Onboarding costs
As with all large hospital systems, onboarding into the Swedish healthcare system involves some one-time costs to the trainee such as enrollment in the Clinical Pathways Northwest (CPNW) platform and health requirements. The onboarding requirements are determined by the Swedish Clinical Education department and apply to all health professions. We are working on opportunities for mitigating these costs.
