Description

North Helpline is a non-profit organization that manages two food banks in the Lake City and Bitter Lake neighborhoods of Seattle. We believe that all deserve adequate food, housing, and respect.
We assist our neighbors in obtaining basic needs that affirm their human dignity and worth.

We provide access to fresh nutritious food as well as shelf stable items opening food distribution three times a week at the Lake City location, and one times a week at our Bitter Lake location. We also have Community Connectors who run our Homelessness Prevention Program that works with neighbors to prevent eviction and utility shut-off. In addition to providing financial assistance, our Community Connectors are available to work with all who access services at North Helpline.  We help address additional needs like transportation, employment, housing and more.

Micro

This position will be meeting with neighbors one-on-one to assist them in accessing services at North Helpline as well as in other organizations in the community.

Mezzo

North Helpline has two food banks located in the Lake City and Bitter Lake communities with partnerships to various organizations in those areas. We also collaborate with the Seattle Indian Health Board as they recently opened a clinic at our location in Lake City.

Macro

Macro-level social workers work at the community and systems-level.

Required Experience

Knowledgeable of Microsoft systems and comfortable with learning new technology.
Experience working with a diverse population and English Language Learners.
Experience working in a fast paced or chaotic environment.
Experience with de-escalation or willing to receive training.
Preferred lived experience with food insecurity, poverty but not required.
